”World Consumer Rights Day”

Theme ” Trusted Smart Products”

Jean Monnet Chair in EU Consumer Protection Policy (EU4CONS) policies , in partnership with the State Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance on 15 March 2019, organized an event dedicated to World Consumers Rights Day. The theme proposed this year by the Consumers International is „Trusted Smart Products„, which aims to provide consumers with the knowledge to buy Smart products safe to usege, as well as developing their decision-making power over their rights as consumers. 

The event was also attended by internationally invited representatives from the Romanian, French, Ukrainian and Armenian institutions that have exposed the national experience of consumer protection through international practices. In this context, the major objectives of the consumer protection institution in the Republic of Moldova are the development of cooperation relations through the exchange of experience and the taking of good practices from the developed countries in this respect.

Representatives of ministries, associations, which have an important role to play in supporting and defending consumer rights, were also present. The events was also attended by students and academia, and by representative of civil society and NGOs.

World Consumer Rights Day must be an impetus for raising national and global awareness of the significant contribution consumers have in contributing to the sustainable development of a society and encouraging economic agents to focus on product quality and services, on the road to prosperity and growth.
